Upgrading, downgrading and cancelling
How to change your TACENZA Chat plan, what happens to your files and devices when you downgrade, how cancelling works, and the grace period for failed payments.
You can change your plan or cancel at any time in Settings › Plan. Nothing you’ve stored is ever deleted because of a plan change. This page explains each change, when it takes effect, and what happens when a payment fails. For the plans themselves, see Plans and billing.
Start a paid plan
- Go to Settings › Plan and select See plans.
- Pick Monthly or Yearly.
- Select Choose Plus or Choose Pro.
- Pay on Stripe’s page, which opens in a new tab.
- Go back to your Tacenza tab. Your plan updates there once the payment is confirmed, usually within a minute.
If you cancel on Stripe’s page, nothing is charged.
Change plan
When you’re on a paid plan, the button says Change plan.
Upgrade (Plus to Pro)
Select Switch to Pro and confirm Upgrade. It takes effect straight away, and you pay the difference for the rest of this period.
Downgrade (Pro to Plus)
Select Switch to Plus and confirm Switch plan. It takes effect straight away, and the unused part of this period is credited.
Nothing you’ve stored is deleted, but new uploads, devices and bots follow the new limits:
- Storage over the limit: your files stay. New uploads are paused until you’re below the limit. Deleting messages with attachments frees space.
- Devices over the limit: all stay signed in. To add a new one, sign one out first.
- Bots over the limit: all keep working. To create or switch one on, switch another off first.
Nobody is signed out because of a plan change.
Monthly or yearly
To switch between monthly and yearly, select Change plan, pick the other period, and select Switch to your plan. You can also do it on Stripe’s billing page under Payment and invoices. Both are prorated.
Cancel
- Go to Settings › Plan.
- Select Cancel subscription and confirm.
Your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for, and you won’t be charged again. The date shows under your plan. After that, your account moves to Free. Nothing is deleted.
Changed your mind before the date? Select Keep subscription.
To go back to Free, you cancel: there’s no separate “switch to Free”. See Cancelling a subscription.
When a payment fails
Stripe retries a failed renewal. Meanwhile:
- Your plan stays on for 7 days after the first failed payment. Settings says “Your last payment didn’t go through.”
- Update your payment method under Payment and invoices.
- If a retry succeeds, nothing changes.
- If it isn’t paid after the grace period, your account moves to Free. Settings says the subscription stopped because a payment didn’t go through. Nothing is deleted.
Subscribe again from See plans whenever you like. See A payment failed.
Deleting your account with a subscription
Deleting your account ends your subscription at once. See Deleting your account.
Refunds
There’s no refund button in the app. If you think you were charged by mistake, contact support.
